Spean
Bridge
Despite the heavy traffic in Summer, Spean Bridge is a charming
little village with all the amenities and a railway station on the line
to Fort William. One mile away from the Commando Memorial the Tourist
Information Centre is next to the Spean Bridge Mill where you can visit
the craft centre.
This bridge was erected by Thomas Telford in 1819. Spean Bridge on the
river Spean is named after General Wade’s High Bridge built in 1736, the
remains of which survive.
