Great Glen Way Rangers
Voluntary Contribution Programme
Project 1:
More Seating / Amount needed £3,200
The Great Glen Way Seating Project aims to put seats at view points, in sheltered areas and other points along the route where a rest is likely to be greatly appreciated by all the route users.
So far this project has only been able to operate as funds and materials have become available.
With your help, the required monies will become available more quickly and the view where you thought “this would be a great place for a seat” will have one sooner rather than later.
Project 2:
Reduce Road Walking / Amount needed £20,000
As funds become available a new section of the Great Glen Way will be removed from the road. In 2003 a section of almost 1000m was removed from Gairlochy to Achnacarry Road and in 2006 2500m was removed from the Blackfold Road.
These projects take a lot of planning and negotiating, but the Rangers are determined to reduce the amount of time you spend walking on roads. Naturally, some sections may be easier to achieve than others, but we cannot change any unless we can raise the necessary money.
Project 3:
Trailblazers’ Rest / Amount Needed £10,500
The Traiblazers’ Rest is modelled on similar areas in Scandinavia and has been planned in conjunction with Forestry Commission Scotland. On entering the area, route users will find a basic three sided shelter, a bio toilet and picnic tables complete with “safe” areas onto which stoves can be placed. As with other areas of the Great Glen Way, campers will be welcome to use the area provided they are responsible and adhere to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
90% of your donation will go towards the projects you support
10% will be used to cover administration costs.
Amount you wish to donate: £2, £5, £10, £25, Other £….
